Job Title: Cargo Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Cargo Officer to oversee and manage cargo handling operations efficiently. The ideal candidate will ensure the safe, timely, and compliant movement of goods while coordinating with logistics teams, customs authorities, and warehouse staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cargo loading and unloading to ensure proper handling and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with shipping companies, airlines, and freight forwarders for smooth cargo movement.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, including cargo manifests, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
  • Monitor cargo storage and warehouse inventory to maintain efficiency.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure cargo meets regulatory and quality standards.
  • Address and resolve issues related to cargo delays, damages, or misrouting.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize logistics operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in cargo handling, freight operations, or logistics.
  • Strong understanding of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and handle multiple tasks effectively.
