Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement logistics and transportation strategies that align with the organizations goals.
  • Optimize transportation networks, routes, and distribution processes to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Plan for capacity needs, inventory management, and service delivery improvements.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of transport and logistics professionals.
  • Set clear performance targets and KPIs, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability.
  • Oversee the logistics and transportation budget, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.
  • Monitor expenditures, negotiate contracts with third-party logistics providers, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Work closely with other departments such as procurement, production, sales, and customer service to ensure smooth and coordinated supply chain operations.
  • Ensure that transportation schedules and logistics activities are aligned with inventory and order requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international transportation laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks associated with transportation, including damage, theft, accidents, and delays.
  • Implement transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics technologies to improve tracking, route optimization, and real-time data analytics.
  • Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance operational performance, such as GPS, RFID, and automation solutions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party carriers, vendors, and suppliers, ensuring high service levels.
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with external logistics partners.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
  • Address and resolve transportation or logistics-related customer complaints and issues.
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of transportation and logistics operations.
  • Explore and adopt eco-friendly transportation options, such as electric vehicles or alternative fuels.
  • Provide regular reports on transportation performance, cost analysis, and key metrics to senior management.
