SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Senior Officer, Research, Advocacy & Publications will be responsible for developing content for the Centres Research, Advocacy & Publications department. Providing sustainable high-quality research, securing research funding and turning-in regular publications that contribute to the Centres objectives of advocacy, inculcation and acculturation of core principles of good corporate governance in Nigeria. Duties and activity expectations include but are not limited ability to:

  • Conceptualise, undertake and publish policy-relevant research on workshops/development and Corporate Governance, Ethics, Anti-corruption compliance, Regulations and other related issues.
  • Identify and coordinate the engagement of external research team across institutions.
  • Coordinate and work with external research team whose input and research papers will be gathered for publication of quality Corporate Governance Journals, and other relevant publications desired by the Centre.
  • Work with the Head, Programmes and Membership and Corporate Governance advisory departments to conceptualise contents for Workshops/Courses/Certifications as Research may inform as well as creation of content for Governance Advisory solutions for the benefits of the Centre and its stakeholders especially its members.
  • Build the Centres reputation as a source of credible research and evidence-based advocacy in Corporate Governance and related fields.
  • Seek and nurture collaborations with Private Sector/International Organisations for Research and Publications.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with thought leaders, researchers, research organisations and academia for the development of research papers, journals and related materials.
  • Develop concept notes to aid in sourcing Research grants, and make presentations to sponsors, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Publish quarterly publications, Board Governance Series, Corporate Governance Journals, special sectoral reports, magazines and newsletters.
  • Prepare the CEOs and Chairmans speech, presentations and other intellectual write-ups as may be required.
  • Conceptualise and develop the Centres Library (Including e-library), seek book and resource donations by foreign and/or local organisation/publishers.
  • Develop and drive the Centres e-platforms and its e-publications.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Education/Qualification

Bachelors Degree in Business, Statistics, Data Analytics, Social Sciences, Law or other relevant fields. Professional certification will be an added advantage.

Experience

Minimum 3 years experience in Corporate Governance function or work on research activities in a membership-based organisation.

Functional Skills & Specific Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of database structures, reporting tools and computer systems.
  • Good organizational and planning abilities including the ability to deal with/work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of MS office and program management and development of software (e.g. Basecamp, MS Project etc.)
  • Outstanding knowledge of data analysis, reporting and budgeting
  • Ability to initiate/develop research and workshop ideas and write convincing proposals.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving and quantitative abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and have excellent negotiation skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
