Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and passionate English Language/Literature in English Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will teach senior secondary school students, delivering engaging and effective lessons that prepare them for success in SSCE and JAMB examinations.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in English Language and Literature in English.
• Develop lesson plans and teaching materials aligned with curriculum standards.
• Use diverse instructional methods to address varying learning abilities and styles.
• Prepare students for SSCE (WAEC/NECO) and JAMB examinations with a focus on syllabus coverage and examination techniques.
• Conduct regular assessments, mock exams, and revision sessions to improve student performance.
• Teach students essay writing, comprehension, grammar, and literary analysis skills.
• Identify and address individual learning challenges.
• Provide additional academic support through extra coaching or after-school sessions.
• Foster a love for reading and critical thinking among students.
• Create and maintain a disciplined and conducive learning environment.
• Establish clear classroom rules and promote a culture of respect and productivity.
• Stay updated with educational best practices, teaching methodologies, and curriculum changes.
Participate in professional development programs and contribute to school activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in English, Literature, or a related field. A Masters degree is an added advantage.
• Teaching qualification (PGDE, NCE, or equivalent certification).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience at the senior secondary school level.
• Proven track record of preparing students for SSCE and JAMB examinations with excellent results.
• Strong command of English Language and Literature in English.
• Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to analyze and teach literary works across genres and periods.
• Proficiency in using modern teaching aids and technology.
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for teaching and student success.
• Commitment to fostering academic excellence and critical thinking.
