Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Compliance to lead our compliance function, ensuring that all company operations adhere to local and international trade regulations, corporate governance standards, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing compliance frameworks, mitigating risks, and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the companys compliance program to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian Customs laws, trade regulations, financial laws, and industry standards.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory environments and advise senior management on necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop internal controls to mitigate potential compliance risks.
  • Train employees on compliance policies, ethics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance programs.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and represent the company in compliance-related matters.
  • Investigate compliance violations, recommend corrective actions, and ensure resolutions are properly documented.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of compliance activities, licenses, and company registrations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (Masters degree is an added advantage).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a compliance leadership role, preferably within an importation, logistics, or trade-related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian regulatory frameworks, including trade compliance, customs regulations, and financial laws.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective compliance policies and training programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with regulatory bodies and senior management.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
